The Moscow income from Chinese tourists could exceed $ 1 billion in 2016
“Thanks to tourists from China Moscow budget can be added by more than $ 1 billion in 2016”, - said the head of the department of national policy, international relations and tourism Vladimir Chernikov.
"According to our very conservative estimates, which have been taken into account for the past year, we can see that Chinese tourists left at least $ 1 billion in Moscow budget in the last year. We believe that in this year, the figure could be more", - Chernikov said.
It was earlier reported that Moscow has become one of the most popular shopping destinations for Chinese tourists, they buy gold, amber and cosmetics.
According to “Rosstat”, Russia was visited by more than 1 million Chinese citizens in the past year. The number of Chinese tourists in the past five years has increased more than 4.5 times.
