As a result of the first half of the year Russia is in the TOP 10 of key incoming markets of the Maldives after China, Germany, Britain, Italy and India.

The fact that the demand of Maldives in the first half of the year has grown significantly is confirmed by tour operators. Meanwhile, the next summer Maldives is preparing a surprise for tourists - the new and largest resort in the Indian Ocean. The data from the Ministry of Tourism of Maldives for the first half of 2017 says about a very significant increase of the tourist flow from Russia in comparison with 2016.

According to statistics, published by the Ministry of Tourism of the Maldives, the number of Russian tourists visiting the country in 2016 increased by 4.7% - from 44.3 thousand in 2015 to 46.5 thousand in the past year. The total number of tourists in Maldives has increased by 4.1%. The leaders are guests from China - 324.3 thousand, on the second place is Germany and Britain together - 106.4 thousand and on the third place with 101.8 thousand is Russia. In the first half of the last year there was a slight decrease in the number of tourists from Russia - obviously because of the economic crisis in the country - but in September, it is noted a significant growth of the tourist traffic.
