In the first half of the year the number of Russians tourists on the Maldives increased by 25%
“The Maldives in the Indian Ocean from January to June were visited by 38.4 thousand Russians, which is 25.4% more than in the same period last year”, - informed Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR). As a result of the first half of the year Russia is in the TOP 10 of key incoming markets of the Maldives after China, Germany, Britain, Italy and India. "So, Anex Tour operator’s sales of tours to the Maldives in the first half of the year increased by 70%. In KMP Group the direction is well sold not only in winter (high season), but also in the summer, which is promoted by attractive discounts from local hoteliers", - underlined ATOR. As it was noted in the Association, the increase of demand for the Maldives is primarily due to the factors of prices and assortment, as well as availability of direct flights from Russia to the islands. "At any time of year, you can find a huge number of direct and connected flights. With such competition the prices for flights remain at an affordable level", - ATOR stressed. The Association added that on the other exotic destinations sales are not so good: Seychelles continues to lose Russian tourists, Mauritius stagnates. Seychelles lost 17.6% of Russian tourists in the first half of the year against the same period of 2017, Mauritius - 2.9%.
