The number of Russian tourists in Maldives has increased by 36.8%
The fact that the demand of Maldives in the first half of the year has grown significantly is confirmed by tour operators. Meanwhile, the next summer Maldives is preparing a surprise for tourists - the new and largest resort in the Indian Ocean.
The data from the Ministry of Tourism of Maldives for the first half of 2017 says about a very significant increase of the tourist flow from Russia in comparison with 2016. So, for the period January-June this year, the islands hosted 30 626 tourists from Russia. Against 2016, when only 22 366 Russian tourists arrived to Maldives during the same period, this is an increase of 36.8%.
Thus, by the results of the first half of this year, Russia is in the TOP 5 of major European tourist markets for Maldives (Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Russia and France), with a share of 4.7% of all tourists in Maldives. But it is more important, that Russia has demonstrated the best growth among the top five European states.
Despite the fact that Maldives are a winter destination on the Russian market, tour operators confirm good sales volumes in this summer season. "In this summer season Maldives are in a steady demand. In comparison with the last year we note growth of bookings", - says Marina Makarkova, the Head of the public relations department of the tour operator Coral Travel. The fact that sales of this exotic direction intensified in comparison with the last summer season, confirmed the representatives of ICS Travel Group and PAX tour operators.
