Spain – the results for the first four months

“Spain in January-April 2018 was visited by 243.9 thousand Russian tourists, it’s an increase of 8.6% in comparison with the same period of the last year”, - according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of the country. The total number of tourists who came to Spain for the first four months of 2018 is 20.5 million, which is 2.3% more than for the same period of 2017. Traditionally, most travelers came to Spain from Great Britain (4.3 million, a decrease of 1.6%), Germany (2.8 million, -3.1%) and France (2.8 million, -1.8%). At the same time, tourist flow increased from Belgium (+13.2%), Portugal (+ 10.7%) and the Netherlands (+ 10.2%). In April, tourist flow from Russia increased by 8.2% against the same month of the last year and amounted 72.7 thousand people. The total number of foreign tourists in April decreased by 4.4% - up to 6.8 million. The most significant decrease of the tourist flow was recorded from Germany (-19.7%) and Switzerland (-18.4%). The number of British tourists fell by 5.2%, French - by 5.5%. In January-April 2018, the most tourists for holiday in Spain have chosen the Canary Islands (4.8 million), Catalonia (4.7 million) and Andalusia (2.9 million). Madrid was visited by 2.2 million tourists for four months 2018.
