"Silver Ring of Russia" is waiting for foreign tourists
The management of the interregional tourist project "Silver Ring of Russia" plans to attract foreign tourists after the opening of the borders, said Sergei Korneev, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg.
"There is interest of foreigners to the Russian North. Of course, much here depends on the quality of infrastructure. Interest to the North is one of the trends of world tourism," Korneev told reporters.
According to him, the project of attracting foreigners is currently being discussed with Finland, Sweden and other Baltic countries.
"Silver Ring of Russia" is an interregional tourist project consisting of a set of routes uniting historical cities, regional centers, large settlements of the North-West of Russia, which have preserved unique historical and cultural monuments, as well as natural objects, including in the list of UNESCO World Heritage.
The Ring unites the most historically significant regions and cities, such as St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Arkhangelsk, Leningrad Region, Vologda, Karelia, Nenets Autonomous District, Veliky Novgorod, Komi Republic, Pskov and Murmansk Region.
