Russians plan to spend New Year holidays in Thailand, the UAE and Sochi

Analysts from the tour operator Anex and the online accommodation booking service Sutochno.ru studied the most popular destinations for New Year's holidays. It turned out that the number of bookings of tours and accommodation for the New Year's dates begins to grow from the end of September and many Russians have already bought tickets for their holidays.   

50% of Russians plan to travel in the regions of the Russian Federation during the New Year holidays, and 30% will go to Moscow and St. Petersburg. Another 15% choose warm countries for their New Year's holiday, such as Thailand, the UAE, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives.

The rest will go to ski resorts and Europe. A quarter of respondents have already booked accommodation and tickets, but the majority is waiting for discounts on tickets, tours and hotels (33% answered by this way). 5% of Russians plan to resolve the issue of the New Year's vacation in the end of October, and 20% after the November holidays.

Another 17% of respondents will not book accommodation because they want to stay with friends or relatives.

In October 2023, the turnover of travel agency’s payments more than doubled compared to October last year. There were 67% more paid tours, and 59% more payers.
