Russian tourists helped to restore the economy of the Seychelles after the pandemic
Seychelles in January-August 2022 was visited by 19 thousand tourists from Russia. In 2021 the tourist flow amounted to more than 30 thousand people, said the honorary consul of the Republic in Moscow Dmitry Kislov.
"Aeroflot's flights to Victoria are scheduled to be resumed in October, which will undoubtedly strengthen the positive dynamics in the development of Russian-Seychelles relations," Kislov said, adding that, despite the temporary suspension of direct flights in March this year, the demand among Russians for the Seychelles remains high.
According to him, so far it is planned to operate two flights a week, but given the interest of the Seychelles side in the Russian tourist market, there are opportunities to increase the frequency of Aeroflot flights and to add another carriers on the route.
Kislov also noted that at the end of 2021, the number of tourists from Russia exceeded 31 thousand people.
"For comparison, the record figure for pre-Covid years was about 15 000 people," he added.
In 2021 Russia became the main "supplier" of tourists to the archipelago, contributing to the rapid recovery of the Seychelles tourism business, which is one of the main segment of the country's economy.
