Russian tourism in Switzerland – the results of the last year

“Switzerland was visited by almost 136 thousand Russians in the last year, the tourist flow grew by 13.6% in comparison with 2016”, - said the Marketing Manager of Moscow office of Switzerland Tourism Maria Makarova. At the same time, the number of night stays of Russian tourists in Switzerland increased by 8.8% - up to 352.1 thousand. "On the first position is Zurich region, on the second is the canton of Geneva, then are the resorts of Vale, Graubunden and the region of Lake Geneva". Russian tourists spent 164.4 thousand nights (+ 9.1%) in large cities, in small towns – 60 thousand (+14.1 %) and in the mountains 113.9 thousand (+ 14.1%)”, - Makarova said. In total, in 2017 the guests stayed 37.4 million times in Swiss hotels, which is 5.2% more often than a year ago. "Foreigners spent 20.5 million nights at the hotels of the country (+ 6.1% against 2016) and Swiss tourists - 16.9 million (+ 4.2%). This is the best result since the beginning of the processing of statistical data", - noted M. Makarova.
