Russia is the key market for Dubai and Expo 2020
The first September weeks in Moscow are running under the moto of Dubai and Expo 2020. B2B and B2C events are presenting the opening of the show October the 1st. As expected Expo 2020 should be an economical driver for Dubai and the whole country after challenging pandemic time.
According to Isaam Kazim CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing Russia has remained a key market for Dubai and DCTCM plans to continue our efforts to increase the tourist flow from the country. According to the latest data, between July 2020 and June 2021, 4.1 million guests stayed in the city for at least one night. For comparison, in 2019, Dubai received 727,800 Russians who stayed in the city for at least one night. Russia became the 2nd largest market in terms of the number of tourists coming to the emirate in the first half of 2021 - 209,740 Russians came to Dubai. In May 2021, the number of Russian tourists reached 40,890, making Russia a leading market. At the same time, the UAE has become the second most popular holiday destination among Russians after Turkey.
Answering the question of Russian Travel Digest the global destination marketing director for Expo 2020 Sumathi Ramanathan stated with pleasure, that the planned visitor numbers of 25 million will be for sure reached. Over 2500 authorized ticket sellers are distributing the tickets all over the world. 32 companies in Russia were nominated as authorized sellers and 200 are acting as subagents. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan express raised demand for the Expo visit.
