Over 230 thousand Russian tourists visited Dubai in the first quarter of 2019
“More than 230 thousand Russian tourists visited Dubai in the UAE from January to March 2019, just over this period, 4.75 million foreign guests visited the Emirate”, reports The Gulf News.
"In the first quarter of 2019, Russia was on the sixth line in terms of tourist flow to the Emirate, the number of tourists was 234.14 thousand," the newspaper writes, citing the data from the Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing of the Government of Dubai.
According to statistics, the leader in the number of foreign visitors to the Emirate is India: from January to March Dubai was visited by 564, 84 thousand citizens of this country. The second place is occupied by Saudi Arabia, from where 411, 59 thousand tourists arrived. UK closes the TOP - 3 with 326.6 thousand arrivals.
The fourth place was occupied by China, from where 291.66 thousand tourists came to Dubai in the first quarter of 2019, which is 13% more than during the same period last year. "The largest number of guests from this country was observed during the celebration of the Chinese New Year," The Gulf News informs.
According to Dubai Tourism Department, Oman occupied the fifth place (263.2 thousand tourists), Germany was the seventh (203.65 thousand), followed by the United States (185.86 thousand) and Pakistan (137.02 thousand). France closes the TOP-10, from January to March Dubai was visited by 121.10 thousand citizens of this country.
"Tourism is one of the most important industries for the Emirate, it annually makes a great contribution to the economy of Dubai," said the Director General of Dubai Touris Helala Said Almarri.
According to the newspaper, Dubai airports served about 22.2 million passengers from January to March. In 2018 a foreign tourist flow to Dubai reached almost 16 million arrivals.
