More direct flights to the Cuban resort of Varadero will increase this summer

The Russian tourist flow to Cuba in the first 3,5 months of 2023 has already exceeded the figures for the same period of the last two years. Growth will continue in the summer season 2023: Nordwind will increase the number of direct flights to the Caribbean country, blocks of seats on which were taken by several federal tour operators.

Russia remains one of the key markets for Cuba tourism. As Christina Leon Iznaga, Tourism Adviser of the Embassy of the Republic in the Russian Federation, said, from the beginning of the year to mid-April, more than 38 000 arrivals from Russia were recorded in Cuba. This is 4% more than in the same period of 2022 and 14% more than in the same period of 2021.

As the representative of Cuban tourism noted, this year the Russian market shows good growth and there are prerequisites that 2023 will be more successful than 2022. Last year, about 54 thousand Russian tourists visited Cuba.

Russian tour operators confirm the stable interest of tourists in traveling to Cuba, as a result of which the flight program to Cuba of Nordwind Airlines (the main partner of Pegas Touristik), was extended for the summer season 2023.

Moreover, in summer the number of flights will be increased. According to the representatives of Pegas Touristik, from May 22 until the end of the summer program, 4 flights per week will be operated to Varadero, although two frequencies per week were planned previously.

The flight program to the resort of Cayo Coco has also been extended for the summer: flights will be operated twice a week.

Tours to Cuba on Nordwind flights are currently offered by four major tour operators. First of all, this is Pegas Touristik.

Blocks of seats on flights to Varadero in the 2023 season were also taken by Fun&Sun. The company’s summer program to the Varadero resort starts on May 17. Frequency is three times per week.
