In the summer of 2023, Russians mainly choose holidays in Turkey
Thanks to an increase of the number of flights and a significant increase of the fleet flying abroad, transportation to Turkey has become more affordable compared to last year.
"Transportation traditionally occupies 50-60% of the cost in a foreign tour package. Accordingly, the more flights on the market mean lower prices," said Dmitry Gorin, Vice President of Russian Union of Travel Industry (RCT).
As per representative of RCT, at least 5-6 million tourists will use package tours in the summer of 2023, most of which will go to Turkey. At the end of July, this destination is the first in terms of demand, and the share of sales from various tour operators and package tour aggregators varies from 35 to 65%.
It is known that more than 85% of Russians choose the Antalya coast - the resorts of Alanya, Antalya, Kemer, Side and Belek. A little over 12% prefer Bodrum, Dalaman, Fethiye, Kusadasi and Marmaris on the Aegean coast. The share of Istanbul is less than 1%.
