3,5 million Russian tourists in Antalya– Turkish hoteliers will consider it as a success

If the number of Russian tourists in the main Turkish resort remains at the level of last year – which is 3,5 million – Turkish hoteliers will consider it as a success. So, Turkey decided how many Russian tourists the country is waiting for in Antalya. This assessment of the situation was voiced for the Turkish media by the president of the Mediterranean Association of Tourist Hoteliers (AKTOB) Kaan Kavaloglu.

According to him, at the moment, about 784 thousand tourists have arrived at the resort from Russia. At the same time, according to his forecasts, Russia will lose its leadership this year again – as it was last season.

“In 2019, 7 million tourists from Russia came to Turkey, and 6 million of them purposefully went to Antalya. But this season, all the difficulties in Russia continue to affect, including the isolation imposed on the Russians. Last year, we considered 3,5 million Russians as a success, and if 3,5 million Russians come this year, we will consider ourselves successful,” said Mr. Kavaloglu.

According to the data for the first 5 months, most tourists came to Antalya from Germany – 828 thousand, and the Russians took the second place. British and Poles are in the third and fourth places. “Our goal is to reach a record number of 2019. If we reach 15 million this year, it will be a success,” Mr.  Kavaloglu added.
