In 2018 the number of Russian tourists in Cuba increased by 30%
A record number of Russian tourists - more than 137 thousand people - visited Cuba in 2018. In 2019 Cuban ministry of tourism plans to work on increasing the number of tourists from the Russian market and developing MICE segment.
According to Juan Carlos Escalona, the director of the Cuban ministry of tourism in the Russian Federation, 137,438 Russian tourists visited Cuba in 2018. This is 30% more than in 2017.
Such an active growth of Russian tourist traffic is largely due to the opening of charter flights to new beach destinations in Cuba.
Cuba remains one of the most fashionable tourist destinations on the Russian market, - confirm the trend the largest Russian tour operators. According to Anna Podgornaya, the Director General of PEGAS Touristik operator, the demand for Cuba has been growing very dynamically over the past year.
“Among the advantages of the destination are not only fine beaches, a growing tourist infrastructure, a variety of hotels and a broad excursion program, but also price attractiveness of tours,” Ms. Podgornaya notes.
In total, over 4.7 million foreign tourists visited Cuba last year. By the number of tourists the Russian Federation is on the 9-th place after Canada, the USA, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Mexico and Spain.
