According to tour operators, Greece remains a popular destination primarily for families with children. At Mouzenidis Travel, this audience accounts to 50% of the sales of the destination, at TUI Russia - this is 60% of sales. Together with family tourists, the resorts in Greece are also popular among couples aged 30 years and older (about 20-25% of sales).
Since mainly tourists with children go to Greece, hotels of category 4 and 5*, working on “all inclusive”, are in the top demand. The duration of the tours is from 7 to 12 days. As Biblio-Globus noted, rooms with 2 adults + 2 children are especially well sold.
According to Intourist experts, 45-50% of tourists prefer to get All Inclusive system, while the rest prefer to use HB or BB in almost equal proportions. According to TUI, the share of hotels with AI basis is 44%, but at the same time, interest for HB accommodation is also growing (27% of sales in 2019 vs 19% in 2018). “The most popular product is the 4* category hotels at All Inclusive, they account to 25% of all sales,” the tour operator said.
If last year 49.5% of TEZ Tour's clients chose an all-inclusive accommodation in Greece, then this is already 60%.
The trend of the season 2019 is the growth in demand for low-cost accommodation facilities: apartments and hotels of category 2 and 3*. As Marina Makarkova from Coral Travel explains, this is due to the fact that some tourists prefer outdoor activities and independent exploration of the country. “Therefore, there is also a demand for 2* and 3* hotels. Especially, Greece is a country, where there is a lot to see,” the expert notes.
Nevertheless, the market participants note high demand for quality hotels in Greece (4* + and 5*), also thanks to good discounts at the stage of early booking.
"The trends remain the same: tourists who booked 5* hotels continue to choose the same category," emphasize Intourist specialists.
“The five-star hotels are most in demand this season - they are booked by 35% of tourists. Slightly less (29.5%) travelers prefer 4* category accommodation facilities, and 11% of TEZ Tour customers choose 4-star + hotels. The share of 3* hotels in the total amount of bookings is 17.5%. Hotels 4-5* choose mainly for family rest,” told the press service of t TEZ Tour operator.
