Egypt may be opened for Russian tourists flying from Belarus
Belarus has already opened their charters program to Egypt. Russia so far “keeps” its borders locked. However, it is possible that on June 19 Russia will announce the date of the opening of the border with Belarus. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will leave for Minsk this week. As the foreign ministry emphasized, "neither side has a desire to maintain the current situation with the closed border, this fact does not correspond to the interests of states." At the same time, Belarus proposed that Russia in the nearest future remove travel restrictions for citizens.
However, even if the Russian-Belarusian border opens, experts say about chances of Russians to fly to Egypt as “theoretical”.
Firstly, it is unclear will Egypt permit Russian tourists to entry the country from Belarus. For example, Turkey does not allow such passengers to visit the country. According to representatives of Tez Tour, tourists from the Russian Federation cannot use the Belarusian flights yet. At the moment there is no official decision from Egyptian authorities on the readiness to host Russians from Belarusian charters.
Secondly, it is unclear what kind of transport will be allowed to cross the border of the Russian Federation and Belarus: since April there are no rail and air connections between the countries. Now, only limited categories of Russians who have supporting documents can cross the border by road.
