Demand for Zanzibar maintains thanks to charters of Rossiya Airlines
At the end of 2019, Tanzania lost a noticeable number of Russian tourists: according to the Border Service. The country last year hosted only 6 435 tourists from Russia, against 9 891 people a year earlier. The experts explain the more than 35% decline, first of all, by a decrease in charter transportation in the destination: Pegas Touristik and Anex Tour did not perform their charter flights in the Tanzanian destination since the winter season of last year.
Pegas Touristik began to offer Tanzania (Zanzibar Island) on the Russian tourist market in the winter of 2017. Then, next year, Anex Tour began sending tourists to Zanzibar. However, according to observers, despite the fact that the accommodation prices were good, tour operators were not able to get maximum profitability from the destination. Today, tours to Zanzibar of these players are organized on the basis of regular flights, which, according to them, is "quite enough for the current demand."
Now, Anex Tour tours to Zanzibar are organized on the basis of regular flights (GDS), a tour to a 3* hotel can be bought for 1 312 Euros, for 9 nights (BB). Pegas Touristik sells ground services only.
Meanwhile, the vacant place was occupied by Biblio-Globus tour operator with own flight program on boards of Rossiya Airline started on October 27, 2019 till the end of March 2020.
According to the press service of the tour operator, the loading of charters for February amounted to almost 85%. Current sales are also going well. “Both of our programs are in demand among tourists: beach vacations on the island of Zanzibar and safari + beach vacations on Zanzibar,” said Biblio-Globus.
