The Russian market is in the third place in May in terms of the number of arrivals in Istanbul. The share of visitors from Germany in May 2022 accounts for 8,25% of the total number of foreign visitors. Germany is followed by Iran (7,04%), Russia (6,5%), USA (5,04%), Great Britain (4,65%), France (4,12%), Israel (3,33%). In total, according to the results of May, 92,455 people arrived from Russia to Istanbul.
In the summer season, Turkish beach resorts are more popular among Russians. “But Istanbul is also very popular. Istanbul has become a year-round destination this year, there are no sales declines typical for summer, all hotels are filled up to 90%, and sometimes even up to 100%,” Pac Group reports.
Tez Tour and Fun&Sun note that the demand for Istanbul this summer season has increased 10 times compared to last year. “At the moment, Istanbul accounts for about 15% of the total sales of tours to Turkey for the summer season 2022. At the same time, the demand for holidays in Istanbul will continue to grow due to the availability of affordable air transportation,” Tez Tour press service notes.
“Excursion tours with flights are available from Kazan, Makhachkala, Mineralnye Vody, Moscow, Samara, St. Petersburg and Ufa. If tourists just take a package tour on regular flights (flight + hotel), then Yekaterinburg, Grozny, Novosibirsk, and Sochi are added,” says Anex Tour.
The most popular tour option, according to tour operators, is Istanbul plus Cappadocia. The combination of Istanbul + beach holidays in Turkey is in little demand. The share of sales of such tours from tour operators in the total volume is no more than 5%.
