Cancelation of visas will increase the interest of Russians to Latin America

For the next two years Russia intends to cancel visa restrictions for all countries of Latin America. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference held on January 15 in Moscow. "We have, in fact, visa-free regime with all the countries of Central America and Caribbean, except four or five countries. And I am sure that in the next year or in two years we will be able to make the entire CELAC zone (the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) into a visa-free zone for Russian Federation", - stressed the minister in his speech. We can note that at this time in South America visa restrictions for Russians are existing only in French Guiana and Suriname, with the leadership of which the agreements on a visa-free regime with Russian Federation were reached at the end of last year. However, the corresponding agreements have not been signed yet. As for the Central America, now in this region the visas are required for Russians for traveling to Belize, Mexico and Puerto Rico. According to the market participants, a visa-free regime will provide more opportunities for combined tours in Latin America and will increase the interest of tourists to Caribbean countries. Observers add: the greatest effect of visa cancellation will be reached on the Mexican direction, where at the moment there is an organized tourists flow due to the charter chains of tour operators.
