By the end of 2021, Cyprus will host more than half a million Russians
According to the Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus, in 9 months of 2021, almost 418 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation visited the country.
Thus, for the January-September period of 2021 Russia leads the TOP-5 countries by tourist arrivals in Cyprus, ahead of the traditional leader - Great Britain (with 208 thousand tourists), and also Poland (75 thousand people), Ukraine (64 thousand people), Greece (about 62 thousand people) and Israel (41,5 thousand people).
In September alone, 89 thousand tourists from Russia visited Cyprus. Every fourth foreign tourist in Cyprus in September was from Russia.
As it was stressed in the Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus, the Russian market returned to the level of the pre-pandemic seasons: tourists more actively travel to Cyprus not only in the high season. So, the tourist flow in September-October this year is 5-7% higher than in the summer months. As per the estimates of the Cypriot tourist authorities, by the end of 2021, more than 500 thousand Russian citizens will visit Cyprus.
Cyprus is opened for Russians since April 2021, and regular flights with this country were resumed only at the end of June. According to tour operators, for the November holidays Cyprus was in the TOP 5 of the abroad destinations, despite high competition with Egypt, Turkey and other foreign destinations. The demand for the country has increased by 20-25%.
In winter, it will be possible to get to Cyprus on direct flights of Aeroflot, S7 and Ural Airlines from Moscow and a number of regions. Also, a weekly flight to Larnaca from Moscow is in the schedule of Pobeda low-cost airline.
