Air carriers increase traffic from Russia to Tenerife
“The Russian market in the first months of 2019 showed an increase in traffic by 23%. One of the reasons for the growth in demand is regular air traffic between Russia and Tenerife. Thanks to the latest changes in the airline’s flight program, the number of flight sites has doubled since the fall of 2018,” says marketing company TMI, citing statistics on inbound tourism for Tenerife.
The activity of the Russians has increased against the background of a general growth of interest for the rest on Tenerife - in February-2019 the island hosted 455 thousand foreign tourists, which is 6% more than a year earlier. On average, the duration of the trip is 7-8 days. Most often, tourists visit the Teide National Park, the cliffs of Los Gigantes and the Zoo Loro Park.
At the beginning of the year, Russian tour operators noted an increase in the rate of early booking for Tenerife compared with last year. This was explained by the avalability of discounts from hoteliers, as well as promo fares from carriers.
It can be assumed that low ticket prices increased the tourist flow. In February-March, there was an oversupply on the destination. Aeroflot increased the frequency of flights from Moscow to daily against five flights a week last year. In addition, S7 flies twice a week, there are also connecting flights of foreign airlines.
