Aeroflot received no instructions to suspend flights to Britain
Last week, the UK Ministry of Health announced the discovery of a new form of COVID-19 in the country, which, according to experts, is spreading much faster than the previous one.
The new type of coronavirus in the UK is believed to be 70% more infectious. Italy, the Netherlands (until January 1), Austria, Germany and France announced the termination of flights with the UK, and Belgium closed the border.
Aeroflot has not received instructions from the government headquarters to suspend flights with the UK.
The headquarters previously reported that Russia is monitoring the situation with the mutation of the coronavirus in Britain. Aeroflot is the only carrier that operates regular flights from Moscow to London. The decision to suspend and resume air traffic is made by the government headquarters. At the moment, there is no information about such a decision.
According to sources in aviation circles, the government of the Russian Federation will most likely support the position of European countries and will suspend flights to London until the epidemiological situation in Great Britain improves.
