Turkish Antalya set up a new record thanks to Russian tourists
Russian tourists helped Antalya to update the historical maximum in the number of foreign arrivals. In the first 10 months of 2018, 12.5 million of foreign travelers visited the resort, 37% of them are the Russians. According to statistics of two airports of the region - Antalya International Airport and Gazipasha Airport – 12,53 million of foreign tourists arrived in Antalya from January to October (+ 28% compared to the same period of 2017). This is a new record of the Turkish resort: this year the number of tourists is 16% more than for the whole 2014, which is called the “golden period” of Turkish tourism (10.75 million people). Experts emphasize that the “historical results” of the resort is due to the Russian market: for 10 months of 2018 4,625 million of Russian travelers rested on the beaches of this province. This is 23% more than in the same period of 2017 and 36% ahead of the “gold” 2014 (3.4 million people from Russia). There is a lot of the Russians in Antalya this year: for 10 months the number of Russian tourists is two times more than from Germany (2.2 million people, the 2-nd place among all inbound markets). During the reporting period, the number of arrivals of tourists from Germany increased by 35%, but the dynamics of Ukrainian market has decreased (-1% compared with the same period last year). 5 countries (Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Great Britain and Poland) together accounted for more than two-thirds (68.3%) of the total foreign tourist traffic to Antalya. By the end of 2018, the Turkish resort authorities plan to host at least 14 million foreign tourists.
