Turkey will subsidize charter flights from Russia to keep the flow of tourists
To support tourists' flow from Russia, Turkey will pay to the Russian tour operators $ 6 thousand for each charter flight from Russia from September 15 to November 30, according to the Turkish edition of Daily Sabah. According to the publication referring to the Culture and Tourism Minister of the country Omer Chalikov, support will be provided not only to Russian tour companies, but also to tour operators of the CIS countries and Iran. The minister said that last situations in Turkey, as well as economic crisis in Russia have a negative impact on the tourism business in the country. Therefore, the government decided to financially support the tourism sector. Cooperation of the Ministry with the tour operators and the special program promoting tourism helped to keep the decline in tourist flow from Russia at 20%, whereas in the beginning of the year, the drop was more than 30%. According to the publication, in the struggle for Russian tourists such competitors of Turkey as Spain, France and Italy, have lost more than 40% of Russians. With the help of subsidies Turkey expects to reduce the overall drop in tourists' flow from Russia by the end of the year to 10%.
