The tourist flow from Russia to Phuket increased by 50% in 2016
“In 2016 Phuket was visited by in 1.5 times more Russian tourists, than a year earlier”, - reports Phuket Gazette with reference to the study of the expert group C9 Hotelworks. The Russian flow to Phuket increased by 51% for the year. According to the publication, more than 50% of all tourists, arriving the country from Russia are heading to Phuket. In 2016, Russian visitors brought to the economy of Phuket an income of 30 billion baht (about $ 848 million). “One of the main factors, contributing to the growth of the tourist flow from Russia, was the closure of Egypt on the Russian tourist market”, - the newspaper said. Another factor, that helped to increase the total number of Russian tourists, was the strengthening of the Ruble. About 80% of the tourist flow from Russia are organized tourists. Russians prefer hotels of category 4-stars. The average length of rest for Russians in Phuket is 10.5 days.
