The Russian tourism in Spain: the results for January

“In January 2018 67 thousand Russian tourists visited Spain, which is 5.5% more than for the same month a year ago”, - said the National Statistical Institute of the country. In total, Spain hosted 4.1 million foreign tourists for the first month of 2018, which is 5.2% more than last year's result. On the first line of the list of arrivals is traditionally Great Britain - 799.5 thousand, which is 0.2% more than in January 2017. Further in the TOP 3 are Germany (502.3 thousand, plus 4.2%) and France (491.6 thousand people, plus 5.8%). In January the decrease was noted for tourists from Ireland (- 5.4%) and Switzerland (- 3.8%). In January most tourists (28.8% of the total tourist flow) visited the Canary Islands, Catalonia (21%) and Andalusia (13.1%). Madrid in January hosted 530.6 thousand tourists, which is 8.3% more than a year earlier. Previously it was reported that in 2017 Spain was visited by more than 1.1 million Russian tourists. In total, last year the country hosted 81.8 million foreign tourists, which is a record result for all years.
