The Russian Foreign Ministry is warning the Russians about the trips to Georgia
“In connection with the increased flow of Russian tourists to Georgia, the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns about the risks which are associated with the trips of Russians to this country”, - reported Rosturizm. Under conditions of absence of diplomatic relations, broken by the Georgian side in 2008, the possibility of consular and legal protection of Russians in Georgia is extremely limited. In the country the law "Occupied territories" continues to act, which provides administrative and criminal penalties for foreigners for visiting Abkhazia and South Ossetia. In 2015, three Russian citizens have been imprisoned on the basis of this law, a few others - fined. This year the criminal cases have also taken place against Russians. In this regard the necessary cautions are placed on the Russian MFA website. Rosturizm urges tour operators, which are selling trips to Georgia, to inform tourists about the existing threats for Russian citizens in this country, and recommends the Russians to take into account all the relevant risks, while planning tourist trips.
