The number of Russian tourists in hotels in Latvia has decreased by almost 40%
In the second quarter of 2015, the number of visitors from Russia in Latvian hotels decreased by 37%, according to the Central Statistical Bureau of the country (CSB). Meanwhile, the total number of international tourists accommodated in Latvian hotels in the same period, increased by 2.4% compared to 2014 and amounted to 577.6 thousand people. Among them, 81.1% of international tourists stayed in Riga, 7.6% - in Jurmala, 1.7% - in Sigulda region, 1.3% - in Liepaja, 0.9% - in Daugavpils and Ventspils. The CSO report says that since 2010, the total number of nights spent by international tourists in Latvia annually increased by an average of 10.4%. Although, n the second quarter of 2015, the total number of nights decreased by 1.6% compared with the same perid of 2014. In the second quarter of 2015, 334 thousand international tourists stayed ion hotels in Riga, which is 7.9% more compared to the same period last year. Most of tourists were from Germany (14% of the total), Russia (9.8%), Finland (6.6%), Estonia (6.4%), Norway (6.1%), Lithuania (5 , 8%), Sweden (5.5%), UK (4.8%) and France (3%).
