The number of Russian tourists in Dubai increased in 2021
More than 440 000 Russian tourists visited the Emirate of Dubai in 2021. Compared to 2020, the increase in the number of tourists from Russia was more than 50%, according to the Department of Economy and Tourism of Dubai.
According to the Department, tourists from India are in the first place among foreign guests (910 thousand people). This is 5,3% more than a year earlier. In the second place are tourists from Saudi Arabia (491 thousand, plus 22,8%).
“In the third place is Russia, from which 444 thousand guests arrived, which is 50,3% more than in 2020. The fourth place among the leading markets was taken by Great Britain (420 thousand guests, plus 7%). Also in the top five in terms of the number of visits is the United States (311 thousand).
The average occupancy of hotels in the Emirate was 67%, while in 2020 it was 54%. In the fourth quarter, the occupancy of accommodation facilities increased to 80,7%. In total, 755 hotels operate in the Emirate at the beginning of 2022, offering tourists almost 138 thousand rooms. At the end of 2020, there were 711 hotels.
About 11 million people have visited Expo 2020 since October 1.
In 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic, the Russian tourist flow to Dubai amounted to almost 730 thousand people, and the total number of foreign tourists was 16,7 million. In 2020, the number of tourists from Russia fell by almost 60%, to 296 thousand.
