The number of passengers from Russia grew by 17% in Phuket airport
“Passenger traffic from Russia to Phuket (Thai island) grew by 17% in January-May 2017, against the same period of the last year”, - according to the report of C9 Hotelworks consulting company.
The report is based on data from the immigration service of Phuket International Airport. According to the number of tourists, arriving to the island during five months of 2017, Russia remains the second largest market after China.
In general, Phuket International airport hosted about 3.6 million passengers, which is 10% more than in the same period of the last year. The share of domestic flights was 46%, the share of international flights - 54%. As specified in the document, in comparison with the data for the previous year, the number of passengers from China increased by 8%, from Russia - by 17%.
Earlier in Moscow office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand reported that the Kingdom expects to host more than a million Russian tourists in 2017. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, Thailand was in the TOP 10 of most popular abroad destinations in 2016. In the absence of Egypt, this winter Thailand was the most popular tourist destination for Russians. In the first quarter of this year, the country was visited by almost 489 thousand tourists from Russia, which is 36.5% more than a year ago.
