The interest of Russian tourists in Spain recovered only by 14,5%

The tourism department of Spanish Embassy in Moscow reported that the number of Russian tourists visiting the country for the first six months of this year increased by 73% compared to the same period last year. In total, 155 052 vacationers from Russia visited Spain during this time.

The figures, of course, are insignificant by the standards of the pre-pandemic period: in 2019, 1 million 163 thousand 138 Russians visited Spain. Thus, the tourist flow recovered by only 14,5%. But in comparison with last year there is a certain positive shift.

The tour operator Pac Group confirmed that this year Russians have an interest in Spain. “Yes, indeed, we see a surge in demand compared to last year. Barcelona, Mallorca, Ibiza are the three main leaders of the summer season. Tourists love Spain, as here you can combine a beach holiday with excursions and shopping,” said the representative of the company.

The cost of a package tour to beach Spain is now high. For example, week-long tours at the beginning of September for one person in Mallorca start from 3 987 Euros at a three-star hotel. Departure is from Moscow with two connections.

Traveling to Barcelona is cheaper. A week at a two-star hotel will cost from 1 751 Euros with a flight from Moscow and one connection in Istanbul.
