The flow of tourists from Russia to Estonia continues to grow

From January to April 2018 about 389,000 local and 517,000 foreign tourists lived in Estonian hotels. In comparison with the same period in 2017 the number of tourists increased by 2% and 3% respectively. The number of tourists from Russia since the beginning of the year till April 2018 reached 93 thousand, the growth is 18%.against the same period of 2017. According to statistics, about 2 million tourists annually come to Estonia, 200 thousand of which are Russians. In April this year the number of tourists from Russia increased by 20% and amounted about 19 thousand. Most of the tourists who came to Estonia in April are residents of Latvia, Finland and Russia, together their number is 64% or 97 thousand people of the total share of foreign tourists in Estonia. The number of tourists from Latvia and Finland declined in April by 2% and 16% respectively, but this loss is compensated by the growth of the tourist flow from Russia. The most popular tourist destination for foreign tourists is Tallinn - in April it was visited by about 71% of foreign guests, the cities of Pärnu and Tartu chose 8% and 7% of tourists accordingly, 5% of foreigners stayed in Ida-Virumaa.
