The Emirate of Ras al-Khaimah accepted a record 107 000 Russian tourists in 2022
The Emirate of Ras al-Khaimah (UAE) received a record 107 000 Russian tourists in 2022, exceeding the best result of 2019 by almost 20%, said Yad Rasbey, executive director of the Emirate's tourism development department.
"We ended 2022 with 107 thousand Russian tourists. This is the best result for the Emirate in history. In the record year 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic, we accepted 90-92 thousand Russians. Now, we have exceeded this result by almost 20%, and the result of 2021 - by 40%," he said.
According to him, the total number of foreign tourists in Ras al-Khaimah in 2022 was 1,13 million, which is also slightly more than in pre-Covid 2019 (1,1 million), and 40% more than in 2021.
"Russia has become the leader in terms of the number of foreign tourists. The second place was taken by Kazakhstan. The TOP-5 also includes the UK, Germany and India," he added.
In 2022, about a million Russians visited the UAE, of which about 50-60% were not classic tourists.
"This year, we expect further growth of the tourist flow. The level of hotel bookings now exceeds the same indicator in February 2022 by 40-45%. I am sure that we can easily increase the number of Russian tourists to 115 000 by the end of 2023," Yad Rasbey summed up.
