Thailand expects to receive more than 1,2 million Russian tourists by the end of the year

The flow of tourists to Thailand from Russia should exceed a million by the end of September. By the end of the year, the Kingdom expects to receive more than 1,2 million, Tirasil Tapen, executive director of the European region department of the Thai Tourism Authority, informed.

Also, Tapen noted that in 2024 Thailand expects to accept 1,5 million Russian tourists.

According to him, seasonality for tourists has increased in Thailand this year. “Traditionally, summer is a period of low tourist season. However, this year, in June-August, the number of Russian tourists who visited Thailand reached almost 200 thousand. This has never happened over the entire history of the Kingdom. These figures prove that Thailand is an all-season tourist destination,” - he explained.

Tapen also called an increase of duration of vacation as interesting characteristic of this year. Previously, the average length of vacation of Russians in Thailand was 10-17 days.

In addition, Russians began to more often spend time not at any one resort, but also visit other islands or provinces while traveling. Thus, active demand is observed for Khao Lak, Krabi, etc.

“We plan to attract tourists from Russia not only from the central regions of Russia, but also from Siberia and the Far East,” he concluded.
