Russians travel more often to Estonia, but more and more - independently
For the first quarter of 2018 the Russian tourist flow to Estonia grew by 17. As Ilona Kobeian, the representative of VisitEstonia in Moscow, reported nearly 74 thousand Russian tourists visited Estonia in the first quarter, the number of nights exceeded 156 thousand. "Over the first three months the number of tourists has increased by 17%, the number of night stays has increased by 16%. At the same time March was very successful. The number of Russian nights at hotels has increased by 39%", - says Ms. Kobeian. Most Russian tourists traveled to Tallinn (61% night), to Ida-Virumaa (21%), less often - to Tartu (4%) and Pärnu (3%). At the same time, as the representative of Estonian tourism notes, the border region of Ida-Virumaa becomes more and more popular among Russians. According to her, Estonian hoteliers called the past May holidays as successful: the number of Russian guests is much more than last year. As it was previously reported, in 2018 Estonia hopes to host about 220 thousand Russian tourists. In 2017 about 200 thousand Russian travelers visited Estonia.
