Russian tourists are increasingly choosing luxury hotels in Greece and Cyprus
Roman Sarbash, the head of the VIP tourism department of incoming company Elion Club - a subsidiary of Mouzenidis Group holding company - told about this. According to him, over the past year the holding notes an increase in demand for luxury accommodation in Greece at the level of 8-10%.
According to the data of Elion Club, Greece and Cyprus for the last few years have shown an increase in demand for deluxe hotels and luxury villas. This trend is explained by several factors.
One of them is significant investments in the luxury hotel segment in Greece and Cyprus: approximately 80% of all investments in the hotel industry over the past 5 years were channeled in deluxe hotels. In each of the countries 2-4 such new objects are opened annually.
According to the Elion Club, recently in Greece the most actively new hotels and villas of the deluxe level have opened in such regions of the country as the Chalkidiki peninsula, Attica, Corfu, Mykonos and Crete Islands. Cyprus is actively building luxury facilities (marinas, golf clubs) at the resorts of Limassol.
Now in the assortment of Mouzenidis Travel there are about 40 deluxe-level facilities in Greece and more than 10 in Cyprus. The average cost of a Juinior Suite or Family Suite category for the 2019 season starts from 400-500 Euros for two persons per day. According to Mr. Sarbash, the rise in prices for accommodation in luxury hotels in Greece and Cyprus amounted about 8-10% over the past three years, but this did not stop the demand: the fluent price increase is accompanied by extensive renovations and improvements in the concept of these hotels.
The second factor, which contributes to a more active demand of Russian VIP-tourists to Greece and Cyprus, is the widening of range of services.
According to Mr. Sarbash forecasts, in 2019 the trend of growth in demand for deluxe holidays in Greece and Cyprus will continue. Especially, the creation and development of corresponding tourist products of Russian tour operators is supported by the ministries of tourism and national tourist offices of these countries.
