In 2019, there was a slight increase in the volume of Russian tourist flow on this exotic island destination of the Indian Ocean. Starting 2020, tour operators began to receive special offers from Mauritius hotels with discounts of 20-35%.
According to the statistics office of Mauritius, following the results of 2019, the island was visited by 11 191 Russian citizens, which is 1,7% more than in 2018. In fact, this is a recovery to the level of 2017 after the drop in tourist flow in 2018 (also by 1,7%).
Unlike the rapidly growing tourist flow from Russia to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, the fluctuations in tourist flow from Russia to the Seychelles, the volume of tourist arrivals to Mauritius is quite stable. At the end of 2019, the exotic destinations of the Indian Ocean were divided by the number of arrivals from Russia as follows:
Sri Lanka (86 549 tourists from the Russian Federation, an increase of + 34,2% by 2018).
Maldives (83 369, + 17,5%)
Seychelles (12 403, + 9,16%)
Mauritius (11 191, + 1,7%).
Statistics of Russian tour operators also show an increase in the tourist flow from Russia to Mauritius. A number of major players, including those who started to work in the destination relatively recently, announced a significant increase in sales of the Island in 2019.
So, according to Anex Tour, in 2019, sales of tours to Mauritius increased by 3 times in comparison with 2018. Coral Travel has an annual increase of 60% in Mauritius bookings, and Russian Express tour operator has +20-25%.
The positive dynamics of sales of tours to Mauritius at the end of 2019 is noted in Pac Group. In 2019 the tour operators Spectrum and Ics Travel Group recorded demand at the level of 2018, with also weakly positive dynamics.
According to tour operators, the cost of 7 nights tour package to Mauritius with a flight starts from 4 400-4 500 Euros for two persons at a 4* hotel.
Most often, Russian tourists choose tours lasting 12 nights, preferring 4* and 5* deluxe hotels. Pac Group has an average price of tour to Mauritius - around 6 000 Euros.
