Pegasus tour operator will stop the flight program in Oman
Pegasus tour operator will stop the flight program in Oman from 7 January. This was reported by the head of the company, Anna Podgornaya. She did not comment on the reasons for the decision, only stating that there are several of them. Recall that NordWind flights from Moscow to Salalah have been opened on October 15 with a frequency of twice a week. Tourism professionals call the Sultanate of Oman as a colorful destination, where tourists can combine a comfortable beach holiday with an educational tourism. Tours on the basis of charter transportation could make it more popular on the market. However, even despite the attractive prices (in December, 10-day tours are offered at a price of 72 thousand Rubles -$ 1,084), apparently there were not enough people willing to go to this country by charter. The network of travel agencies "Last-minute shop" confirmed that in December the demand is low, there are almost no bookings for the year 2019. It is obvious, that on the market of organized tours there is an oversupply of offers. Clients, who have a budget for traveling in the winter, from a huge number of options with direct flights choose - Thailand, Vietnam, several Caribbean countries, the UAE, India and the islands, Indonesia and Gambia. Oman is out of this list. The reason is not only that Oman is not very well known as a destination. The charter program with regular Oman Air flights, which firstly were launched from Moscow to Muscat (the capital of the Sultanate) on October 31, has had an effect. This route, as experts say, is mainly chosen by tourists who want to see Oman. The airlines refused to talk about their plans for the next year, noting that they are satisfied with the traffic on the New Year holidays. Meanwhile, the promotional offers of Oman Air - 29 thousand Rubles ($ 437) for a round trip ticket - have ended. Now the cost of the flight for the nearest dates starts from 104 thousand Rubles ($ 1,565). Market participants also suggest that Pegasus concentrates on a more popular route - Egypt. Recently, the tour operator started a flight program to this country through Uvda. Moreover, the tour operator has increased the number of departures, explaining it with good demand.
