More than 2 million Russians visited Antalya for holidays
Due to the increase in tourist flow from Russia, Turkish Antalya resorts have updated records of the past years. But the second half of the season may not be so successful for local hoteliers.
According to the authorities of Antalya, over the first 6 months, the resort was visited by 5.6 million foreign tourists (+ 17% compared to the same period in 2018). Only in June, 2.3 million foreign guests rested in Antalya. The statistics says that the Turkish resort is almost completely focused on foreign markets.
Russia is confidently leading in terms of the number of tourists at Antalya beaches: for the period January-June, totally it was 2.11 million people (+ 12.8% compared to the same period in 2018). Almost 40% of this tourist flow came in June: 865 thousand people. This is 4.7% more than it was in June 2018.
Thus, in January-June, the share of the Russian market in a foreign tourist flow to Antalya was 37%, and in June every third tourist at the resort was from Russia.
By the number of arrivals for the first six months, the Russian arrivals were more than doubled the German tourists (941 thousand), who became the second in Antalya, and almost 8 times more than the Ukrainian holidaymakers (319 thousand), who occupy the third position.
Also the TOP-5 includes the British (292 thousand) and the Poles (199 thousand) tourists. The Netherlands, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Romania and Sweden entered into the TOP-10 with much smaller volumes.
The percentage of Russian tourists in Alanya, the most affordable resort of Antalya province, is even greater. According to the Alanya Tour Operators Association, the Russians are leading among foreign visitors with a share of 40%, followed by the Germans (20%). The tourists from the Benelux countries close the TOP-3 with a share of 10%.
