In April every third tourist in Antalya was from Russia
Turkish Antalya, for the first time in April, has hosted almost a million foreign tourists. “We didn’t expect it ourselves”: this is how the Turkish media describe the reaction of the Antalya authorities commenting the results of April on the inbound tourism market. The resort was visited by 977,500 foreign guests (+ 38% compared with April 2018). This is the largest indicator in April for the entire history of tourism in Antalya.
The April record of Antalya is largely due to Russian tourists: according to the authorities, during this period 304 thousand of Russian tourists rested at the resort (+ 52% by April 2018). On the second line is German market with a result of 208 thousand people. The last line in the TOP 3 is occupied by Holland market with 69 thousand tourists.
Antalya itself believes that the Easter holidays helped to increase the incoming flow. Based on the arrival dynamics at the start of the season, the Antalya authorities are expecting 16 million foreign tourists this year.
In total, for the first 4 months of 2019, 1,56 million foreign tourists visited Antalya (+ 32% compared with the same period of 2018). In January of this year, 139 thousand foreign tourists were recorded, in February - 52 thousand, in March - 279 thousand visitors.
Russian tourist traffic in January-April amounted to 441 thousand people (+ 46.5% compared with the same period of 2018). 359 thousand tourists arrived from Germany (+ 29%).
Recall that in 2018, Antalya was visited by 13.64 million foreign guests, including 4.8 million Russian tourists rested at local resorts.
