In Antalya in May every second tourist was from Russia
The Russians in Turkish Antalya set a new record. In May, every second foreign tourist at the main Turkish resort was Russian.
According to the department of culture and tourism of the province of Antalya, the resort hosted 3.1 million foreign tourists over the first 5 months of 2019, which is 19% more than in the same period of 2018.
Russia leads in the number of tourists visiting Antalya during this period. The number of Russian arrivals in January-May increased by 20% and reached 1.25 million. This is almost two times more than the volume of tourist traffic from Germany during this period (617 thousand), which became the second largest source market. On the third line is the United Kingdom (192 thousand people) and on the fourth position is Ukraine (almost 165 thousand tourists). The Netherlands closed the TOP-5 with 134 thousand tourists. The TOP 10 countries also included Poland, Lithuania, Belgium, Israel and Denmark.
In May, Antalya was visited by 805 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation (47% of the total inbound flow of the resort). Compared with May 2018, the Russian tourist flow added 8.6%.
By the number of tourists in Antalya in May, the TOP 10 countries included the United Kingdom (90.5 thousand), Poland (59.7 thousand), the Netherlands (50.6 thousand), Lithuania (34.6 thousand), Belarus (26.6 thousand), Sweden (24.2 thousand), Kazakhstan (20.6 thousand).
