In 2023 the Russian tourist flow to Thailand exceeded the figures for 2019
Data on tourist flows for 2023 came from Thailand. The country could completely restore the volumes of Russian tourist flow lost during the pandemic and even slightly exceed them. Russia ranks fifth in terms of the number of tourists, and it is still the undisputed leader among non-Asian markets.
According to data provided by the Moscow office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in 2023, 1 481 878 arrivals of Russians were recorded in Thailand. This is slightly more than in 2019 (1,47 million).
At the same time, the volume of all foreign tourist flows to Thailand has not yet reached the values of 2019. In 2023, Thailand accepted 28 042 131 foreign tourists (39 million in 2019). That is, Russia, as Thailand’s source market, is showing recovery rates much higher than the market average.
The most successful month in terms of Russian tourist flow in 2023 was December with 205 077 tourists, slightly ahead of the successful January, when 202 642 Russians visited Thailand. The fewest tourists from the Russian Federation came to Thailand in 2023 in June – 50 770.
The TOP 5 non-Asian countries supplying tourists to Thailand in December 2023 looked like this:
Russia – 205 077,
Britain – 107 083,
Germany – 92 888,
France – 63 309,
Sweden – 36 703.
