In 2018 Turkey expects to increase the number of tourists from Russia by one million
“Turkey expects to increase the flow of tourists from Russia from four to five million in 2018”, - reports the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) referring to the cultural and tourism adviser of Turkish Embassy in Russia Alper Ozkan. According to him, it is possible to make such forecasts due to the success of Antalya, where we saw the record number of arrivals from Russia this year. For 9 months the resort was visited by 3,376 million Russian tourists, which was a record indicator for all the history of Antalya. According to Ozkan's forecast, by the end of this year, at least 4 million tourists from Russia will visit Turkey and in the next year Turkey expects up to 5 million tourists. As A. Ozkan underlined, Turkey will continue active work on the Russian market in the coming years. So, in 2019 there will be held a cross year of tourism and culture between Russia and Turkey, the effect of which Turkey expects after 2020. It was reported earlier that due to high demand the tour operators extended their flight programs to Turkey until the end of the autumn and for the winter season. One of the reasons for the popularity of Turkey the operators call the ban on flights to Egypt, which was the most popular winter beach destination for Russians until 2016.
