How many Russian tourists will arrive in Antalya this summer?
At the start of the season the Russian tourist flow to Antalya shows a 30% increase compared to last year. However, according to the results of the entire summer season, local hoteliers predict a more not significant growth for the Russian market.
Against the background of high dynamics of foreign arrivals, the authorities of the main Turkish resort publish data on inbound tourism almost every week, calling Antalya "the third most popular tourist destination in Europe after London and Paris."
According to statistics from Antalya Airport, during the first 4.5 months of 2019 the resort was visited by 2.3 million tourists from 178 countries, which is almost equivalent to the local population (2.5 million people). Compared to the same period in 2018, the inbound tourist flow to the province grew by 24%.
The Russians are in the head of the list of foreign tourists, who have arrived at the Turkish resort since the beginning of the year. As of May 2019, 819,406 citizens of the Russian Federation have already visited Antalya, which is 30% higher than the figure for the same date in 2018. Thus, every third tourist who visited Antalya this year was from Russia. Recall, Turkey was the most popular outbound destination on the Russian market during the May holidays.
In 2018 the Mediterranean resort city hosted 13.6 million foreign visitors, including 4.8 million tourists from Russia.
Germany, Russia and the United Kingdom are in the top three countries with the largest number of organized tourists in January-April.
As for the Russian market, such dynamics, which the tourist flow from the Russian Federation showed in 2018 (+ 26%), is no longer expected in the Mediterranean Association of Hoteliers (AKTOV). According to the Association, Antalya almost reached the “saturation point of the Russian market” last year. According to Turkish hoteliers, in the season 2019 the maximum growth, which can show the Russian market, varies from 5 to 10%.
