At the end of 2022, the Emirate of Dubai accepted 14,36 million foreign tourists. Of these, 758 thousand are citizens of Russia. The Russian market is the fifth among all tourist suppliers to Dubai in 2022. Behind are India (1,8 million), Oman (1,3 million), Saudi Arabia (1,2 million) and the UK (1,043 million).
Compared to 2021, Russia has lost several ranking positions - previously the country was the third. But at the same time, the tourist flow in absolute terms has almost doubled. In 2021, 444 thousand tourists from Russia visited Dubai.
During the pre-pandemic year 2019, Russians visited Dubai with tourism purposes 728 thousand times, and in 2022 - 30 thousand more.
Tourist flow to Abu Dhabi from Russia in 2022 was about 200% more than in 2021. It is only 7% behind the level of the pre-pandemic 2019. In total, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi received 74 thousand tourists from Russia in 2022.
The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah welcomed a record 107 000 Russian tourists in 2022. This is almost 20% more than in pre-pandemic 2019 and 40% more than in 2021. Russia has become the leader here in terms of the number of foreign tourists. Kazakhstan took the second place. The top five also included the UK, Germany and India.
About 92 thousand tourists from Russia visited Sharjah over the first three quarters of 2022. According to experts, the total tourist flow to Sharjah from Russia in 2022 can reach 120-130 thousand people.
Data for Fujairah and Ajman are not yet available for 2022, but it is assumed that their volumes are less than in Abu Dhabi.
Thus, the total tourist flow to the UAE from Russia in 2022 amounted to approximately 1,1 million tourists. So, the UAE took the second position after Turkey in the TOP-3 countries with the largest outbound tourist flow from the Russian Federation, overtaking even Egypt (947 thousand Russian tourists).
