Demand from Russian tourists to European countries skyrocketed
Despite the sanctions, the demand for travel to Europe among Russian tourists has grown. Such data was provided by the insurance company Rosgosstrakh. According to the company's report, the demand for insurance policies to the Schengen countries grew by 7% this summer.
Judging by received data, Russian tourists actively visit Italy and Spain. Also, Estonia is among the leaders.
“If in June-July last year the share of the EU in the total number of online insurance contracts for people traveling abroad was 18%, then in the two summer months of this year it has grown to 25%. This is largely due to the fact that European countries have lifted coronavirus restrictions, opened borders and remained more or less accessible to Russian tourists,” the insurer’s experts commented.
At the same time, according to the statistics of Rosgosstrakh, this summer the most popular country of the Schengen zone among Russian tourists is Estonia, where 12% of travelers, who have bought insurance policies, are going to.
Spain and Italy are in the second and third place - 11% and 9% respectively.
