Bulgaria recorded an increase in tourist traffic in 2018 by 5%
Bulgaria noted a general increase in incoming flow of 5%, while the Russian market is among the TOP 5 despite the decline, which is noted by Russian sources. The Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria, Nikolina Angelova, reported on the total number of tourists at the traditional annual meeting with ambassadors.
Thus, according to the Bulgarian National Radio, the minister said that more than 8.4 million foreign tourists visited the country over the period from January to October 2018. This is 5% more compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the highest numbers were the tourists from Romania, Greece, Germany, Turkey and Russia.
The Minister of Tourism also noted that the income of the tourism industry for the period from January to September 2019 amounted up to 3.2 billion Euros. This is 7% more compared to the same period in 2017.
Recall that in Russia this year on the Bulgarian destination was recorded a decline caused by fluctuations of Euro and the aggressive "work" of Turkey. According to ATOR, the decline was not less than 20%. At the same time, tour operators are still called the results of early booking programs that started in November as encouraging.
