Because of low demand, prices for tour packages to Turkey fell down by 27%.
In summer 2015, price for tours to Turkey decreased by 27% due to special offers from hotels, but the demand is still about a third lower than last year, Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) said, referring to tour operators. In the first summer months, tour operators estimate the decline of sales of tours to Turkey by 25-30% .
"If we compare flight program of TUI to Turkey last year, we have optimized it by 30% due to cancelation of our regional programs. In our key regions, Moscow and St. Petersburg, the sales are going better. We expect that the total decline in sales compared to the previous year will be from 10 to 20% ", - the product manager of TUI Russia Ekaterina Dyachenko said. Other tour operators say about similar data, noting that the market was ready for a decrease in demand and the major players have adjusted their programs.
"The number of bookings for Turkey declined by about 25%. The flight program and hotel allocation was done according with this forecast, so now the sales to Turkey go smoothly. The market is not overheated by charter flights," the General Director of Pegas Touristik Anna Podgornaya commented.
Both Turkish hoteliers who gave special offers and Russian tour operators who achieved best possible prices for transportation got as the result that prices for tours to Turkey as compared to the previous year foreign currency prices have fallen, the Head of Public Relations Department of Coral Travel Marina Makarkova said.
In addition, tour operators say that this year's tourists spend much less money on vacation, refusing, first of all, from the excursions.
According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, Russian tourist flow to Turkey in the five months of this year decreased by 28%, totaling 802 thousand trips. However, despite the decline in demand, Turkey is stillone of the most popular tourist destinations for Russians.
