ATOR named tour operators, sending the largest number of the Russians to Turkey

The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) named Russian tour operators leading in terms of the number of tourists sent to Turkey. In total, these companies served 4.7 million Russian citizens in the country in 2018. 

“The leader among tour operators in terms of the number of tourists sent to Turkey in 2018 was Coral Travel (with Sunmar sub-brand). The number of the Russians visiting the country with this company amounted to 1.1 million people, of which a million tourists rested in Antalya, 83.7 thousand - on the Aegean coast of Turkey (Dalaman, Bodrum and Izmir), 376 came to Istanbul and 1,1 thousand guests - to other regions of Turkey",  ATOR told referring to the data of the Turkish analytical company Ekin Group Insaat. 

As noted in the association, PEGAS Touristik and ANEX Tour are on the second and third positions in the ranking, they sent 968.5 thousand and 941 thousand tourists, respectively. They are followed by Intourist (580 thousand), Biblio-Globus (437 thousand), TUI Russia (331.5 thousand) and TEZ Tour (317 thousand). 

“Together, these seven tour operators sent 4.7 million travelers to Turkey from Russia in 2018. At the same time, 91% of the Russian organized tourist flow in 2018 fell on the resorts of Antalya Province, and only 9% went to other regions of Turkey (mostly to the resorts of the Aegean coast), a small number of tourists purchased packages to Istanbul,” explained ATOR. 

In Antalya the shares of Russian tour operators distributed somewhat differently. And if the first line is still occupied by Coral Travel and Sunmar, then the second one is already for PEGAS Touristik (880 thousand) and the third place was taken by ANEX Tour (850 thousand).  

 “In total, in 2018, 5.96 million tourists from the Russian Federation visited Turkey. Thus, the share of these tour operators in the total Russian inbound flow to Turkey is 78.5%,” added ATOR.
